This beautiful patinated terracotta bust represents the Virgin of Montserrat, affectionately called La Moreneta , patron saint of Catalonia and one of the most revered spiritual figures in Spain.
The sculptor chose to focus on the essential elements: the somber and contemplative face , the deliberately stylized features, the crown with its understated volumes, and the veil falling in gentle lines. We immediately recognize that unique, gentle, and solemn presence that characterizes the Black Madonnas.

The material – terracotta worked and then patinated in warm hues – possesses a beautiful artisanal quality. The contrast between the blackened face and the light veil reinforces the iconic dimension of the bust. The whole rests on a simple and elegant wooden base , perfectly fitted, which highlights the sculpture without overpowering it.
